It was late in the summer and my business partner and I had been talking about our wives and agreed we would like to do something special for them. So after some consideration we hit upon the idea of dinner out preceded by a visit to a spa / massage therapist for each of them.
That day we met and drove down the coast to a small town where the spa was located and had a great hole-in-the-wall restaurant.
We went into the spa and while the ladies were being pampered my partner and I sat in the small lounge next to a fire place and discussed the day’s activities and business in general. While sitting there, enjoying the pleasant conversation and peaceful evening I glanced across the coffee table and my imagination was captured by the large red chair that sat opposite of me and the glass of water sitting half full on the table in front of it.
Commented to my partner that the chair reminded me of the promise of trust and took a moment to make a brief sketch and take a couple of digital pictures of it
The following week I recalled the evening and pulled out the sketch and the looked at the digital pictures I had taken. As I looked at the pictures and thought about what had caught my imagination I realized that I envisioned the person sitting in the chair as being strong, honorable, warm and trustworthy. The glass was half full of clear, cool refreshing water and the documents on the table were the plans and aspirations being worked on.
Over the course of the next several days the picture developed into the art you see on this page. A reminder to me of these thoughts my imaginations first saw and of what is possible. A reminder (in part) of how I see God.
